IP lawyers want your money again

The IPKat's friend and colleague, IP star Anna Carboni, tells him that she is engaged in a good cause: she writes:

"My husband Marius and I are joining a group of IP lawyers from around the world, going to Tanzania in September to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. At 19,340 feet it is the tallest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world, as well as being a volcano. If all goes well, we will take it slowly and on the last night will sleep (or just shiver) in the main crater under a full moon before we ascend to the top.

While out in Africa, Marius and I are going to visit one of the projects funded by the international development charity ActionAid, which we have supported since sponsoring an individual child in India in 1986. ActionAid's fundraising activities are directed towards helping poor communities to help themselves, with the overall aspiration of eradicating poverty. We are using this trip to raise money for ActionAid, particularly for their work in Tanzania, with a target of £10,000.

If you feel able to help us with this, please visit our fundraising webpage here to make a donation safely on-line by credit or debit card. Alternatively, we are happy to take cash or cheques (including CAF charity cheques) made out to 'ActionAid' (registered charity no. 274467) and sent to Wilberforce Chambers 8 New Square, Lincoln's Inn, London WC2A 3QP, or pledges of future money sent to my e-mail address below. Feel free to set us goals: £x per foot, perhaps!

In view of the body's unpredictable behaviour at high altitude, we cannot absolutely guarantee that we will both make it to the top but, with the help of your sponsorship, we shall be all the more determined".

The IPKat thinks this is a jolly brave thing to do, and wonders whether Anna could spare ActionAid some of her trade mark and branding expertise - there seem to be quite a few versions of "action aid" around, judging by the logos on display here, and one might be forgiven for thinking that the words "action" and "aid" - if the first of those words is used adjectivally - are, well, a little descriptive when taken together ...

Merpel says, who are the "group of IP lawyers from around the world"? She'll donate £10 for each one named. Just email her here and let her know.
